Leon Saunders Calvert is President & Managing Director of The Economist Group, B2B business which incorporates brands such as EIU, Economist Impact and Corporate Network. The portfolio includes information products focused on macro and geopolitical forecasting and analytics, media solutions services built around thought leadership, advertising and events. The EIU services some of the world’s largest corporations and financial institutions, informing decisions around M&A, supply chain management, enterprise risk, and portfolio allocation. Economist Impact allows customers to leverage the expertise, reach and convening power of The Economist Group to reach broad and influential audiences with their external narrative.

Before joining The Economist Group, Leon was Partner & Chief Product Officer at ESG Book, a fintech providing sustainability data, analytics and software to financial markets and businesses. Prior to this, Leon worked at the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) as a Group Director where he held a number of roles during his 15 year tenure, joining LSEG through the acquisition of Refinitiv, formerly the Financial & Risk business of Thomson Reuters. These roles included running Business Management for the Investment & Wealth Solutions division, and leading a number different business lines such as Investment Banking, Asset Management desktop, Sustainable Finance & Investing, Lipper, StarMine and Datastream. He has a Masters Degree in International Management and a BA Hons in Philosophy and Literature.

Leon has provided pro-bono consultative advice to various charities through the Pilotlight business executive program and through UnLtd's social entrepreneurs mentorship program. Leon has held Board roles at The Future of Sustainable Data Alliance (FoSDA) and TAB. He has also held Advisory Board roles at AidHub, a platform for NGO’s, charities and companies to manage and measure their social impact initiatives, and Quoroom, who provide capital management software services to corporates. In his spare time Leon likes to read history, philosophy and current affairs, and to keep fit with the gym, martial arts and playing football, as well as running around after his kids.
